Atterbury Rail Deployment Facility (ARDF)

The Atterbury Rail Deployment Facility (ARDF), or Railhead, and other transportation assets, including line haul ramps and staging areas, are available to all entities training or mobilizing at Atterbury. With a multi-function facility consisting of nine rail spurs, scale house, container yard and a 20,000 square-foot vehicle deployment processing center, the ARDF is able to receive or deploy a brigade in 72 hours or less.

The ARDF is a cost-effective, efficient resource for the military and one of the most economical ways to transport large equipment and personnel. The ARDF is a critical factor in the Indiana National Guard’s ability to support the range of military operations to achieve military readiness and to meet any mission, anytime, anywhere in the world.
